As I sat her at my computer this morning, I started thinking about what it means to be free. I mean to truly be free.
To be free to think as I want to think. To be free to read what I want to read. To be free to say what I want to say. To be free to go where I want to go. To be free to do as I want to do. To be free to live as I want to live.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized how quickly we are losing all of our freedoms and how willing we seem to be to give them up.
Just think of the freedoms we have given up in the past twelve months under the guise of “protecting ourselves from Covid-19”. The number of infringements on our Constitutional rights and freedoms that have been imposed on us in the name of Covid-19 are almost beyond comprehension.
And yet we continue down the same path, never veering from our course. It’s like we are sailing on the Titanic and Covid-19 is the iceberg directly in front of us. And once we hit the iceberg, we are doomed to sink.
But Covid-19 is only a symptom of a much bigger problem. It’s almost like a test is being conducted to see just how willing we are to give up our rights and freedoms, seemingly without question.
And we have failed this test miserably.
Now we are facing ever more and greater threats, threats that are coming straight from a government that is supposed to be a servant of the people.
And it all starts with House Resolution 1 (HR1) – the inappropriately named “for the People Act”. This bill is designed to take away more of our freedoms than any other bill in the history of the United States.
HR 1 is, in my humble opinion, the single greatest threat to the United States of America ever. Period.
This bill, if passed, will ensure that the Socialist Democrats will remain in power forever, and it will ensure that future bills that further restrict our rights and freedoms will pass, one by one, until We the People lose all of our rights, all of our freedoms.
Sadly, this threat comes not from a foreign government, but from our own government.
If this bill passes, it will be our fault. We will have no one to blame but ourselves.
In the opening line of Act 3, Scene 1 of Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet”, Prince Hamlet says “To be, or not to be; that is the question.”
If I may be so bold as to paraphrase the great bard, I would add a single word to this line as follows:
“To be, or not to be, free; THAT is the question.”
If you truly want to be free, if you value your rights and freedoms, then I urge you to contact your Congressman/woman and Senator and implore them to vote against HR1.
To be, or not to be, free is the only question that matters.
